Steve Baird earned a B.A. in Human Ecology from College of the Atlantic in Maine. At Dartmouth College his graduate research focused on habitat selection by migrant birds in Belize. His research interests include salt-marsh plant communities and the ecology of juvenile salmon, but his work at KBNERR has allowed him to participate in a wide-range of research topics, including oceanography, coastal erosion, glacial recession, and long-term water quality monitoring. He is also the primary GIS analyst at KBNERR. Steve enjoys getting out into wild places as often as possible, both for work and play.
